January's Photo Extravaganza!

January's Photo Extravaganza!

Jim and Ruby were hosts on the beautiful day of our January meeting. After a very long time for refreshments and socialization, Jim began his demo by distributing his collection of photo facts:
These are some websites that should help with MP vs. print sizes:
 1.    https:/photographyicon/enlarge
 2.    improvephotography.com/34880/how-big-print-with-megapixel-com
 3.    digitcamhelp.com/processing-photos/printing/print-size
 4.    disturbancesinthewash.net

A copy of his handout is included in this blog.
Jim displayed three photo books printed through: Walgreens, BestBuy and Shutterfly.  The first two were picked up locally, while Shutterfly mailed the book to Jim. All three were faithfully reproduced with major differences being cover, binding and layout.

Close examination of the books allows for an understanding of how difficult it is to make captions and use each company's templates. It takes time and patience to learn how to use each service. As with any venture, improvements can be made with practice and we hope all will take advantage of this knowledge to create your own great photo books. Jim says he is available to advise whenever you want to create your own photo book.

We hope Jim will do another demo showing how he accessed and used the various software programs and services to create his photo books.

The day concluded with a discussion of club finances, problems and possible solutions. The club has no money. The consensus of those present was that future meetings will have potluck refreshments through May, 2017.  So, remember to bring a dish or non-alcoholic drink to share at all future meetings you attend. We will have a short business meeting in February.
Remember that Dale and his wife will be our hosts for the February meeting (just before Valentine's Day!). Among the topics he will address m a y b e spreadsheets. So, gather your spreadsheet questions so that you can gain a better understanding of how to use such magnificent programs.
In additional news, Kelly was helped to get a free subscription to a paid software tutoring service.... congratulations, Kelly. It took a lot of effort to get, so we hope you'll use it well.
