As with many things in life, the Kankakee River Valley Computer Users Group has passed into history.
Started when computers were a rarity/novelty, it served a purpose of assisting new users in programming and utilization. At the end of its life, computers are everywhere, from our car engines to our pockets, and the need for a specialized group such as KRVCUG has diminished.
Certainly there are those who still need basic tutorials in certain particular programs, but with the rise of the internet, such step-by-steps are a single search engine query away.
The site will remain active until early 2018 when our domain name registration expires. If you need to contact anyone from the group, you can use the email links to the right.
Take care,
Mark

KRVCUG MEETING ANNOUNCEMENT
MARCH 11, 2017
HOSTS: Mark and Kim Duhon
PROGRAM:
Unknown - No topic/write-up was received. So, to whatever Mark and Kim
may have planned, we'll have contributions from members who wish to share,
including a tour of the new Wikipedia. We'll use the projector so that
everyone can read. If you have a demo that could benefit from the
projector, this Saturday would be a good time to present it. Perhaps Jim
will continue with the photo book demo and show us how to manipulate
the software he used to layout his books. Maybe Kelly and Paul will have
something new to report. Come, mingle and learn.
REFRESHMENTS:
Remember, it's potluck refreshments, so bring something exciting with
you (dead bird - (chicken))... yes, if you have friends or associates who would appreciate
learning something new about computers, bring them too! In January, we
decided not to spend money from the treasury, that's why we're doing the
potluck.
SPRING:
We know it's spring and it's time to set your clocks ahead this Sunday
night. There was a desire to have a gardening program to help you plan
your garden. However, one of our members who is also a member of the
Garden Club, wasn't able to put anything together, yet. Maybe there'll
be time in April. We'll see what our April hosts: Fran and company have
in store for us.
SPRING CLEANING:
It's time to clean and reorganize. Should you have anything that you
would like to give away, sell or barter - bring it to the next three
meetings! We're bound to find a good home for computer equipment,
peripherals, electronics, books and magazines.
Get into the spring of things slowly. Build those winter muscles back up and keep safe.
What do computers eat for a snack? Microchips!

Meeting to be:
2/11/2017
Dale and his wife were to be our hosts but he emailed that they had decided to go on vacation instead. At this time, no notice has been received as to who is taking their place, what demos to expect or what tasks have been accomplished. It appears that no demos are scheduled and no publicity distributed. Should you have something to share, please feel free to show and tell; should you know of someone who could benefit from attending, invite them.
We were informed at the January meeting that we have no more money, so the consensus of those present decided that we would have potluck refreshments (food and drink) at future meetings through May. Please remember to bring something to share, or simply enjoy the tranquility of abstinence.
Winter weather has contributed to a decline in attendance, as usual. Though in 'lazy' faire volunteer organizations with no programs for club publicity or membership solicitation, that trend will probably continue. Ruby's father passed away recently and even though he wasn't an attendee, Jim and Ruby will miss our February meeting as well due to family obligations. We pray for them as they experience this time of grief.
There is good news. Preparations for the nominations of officers has begun. Last week, a positive solicited response was received regarding an interesting presenter for the April or May meeting. Details and the specific date are being arranged. With no money in the treasury, we won't have to worry about how to spend any. With no new members, we won't have to ask a newbe to help out, we can just rely on our good old standbys — minus one.
Happy Valentine's Day. See you on Saturday.
